Have visited this tree several times, and wondered just how long it has been growing to have reached its great size. It's certainly well worth visiting and can easily be combined with a visit to the equally ancient yew at Crowhurst Church
One of the very best examples. This tree really demonstartes the durability and longevity of the species. Has had a fire lit within the hollow, had concrete jammed into any cavities, had a church built next to it and endures countless interested folk like myself trampling all over the root plate. It is over 25 metres in height and has a broad spreading crown. last time I visited it appeared to be in excellent health. It has several layered stems which are now a good age themselves.
