This tree has now been cut down in the name of Health and Safety. It showed signs of fungal attack last autumn, with Dryad's Saddle growths showing. The butchers of North Down Borough Council immediately came out and removed all vestiges of the tree, grubbed out the roots. No replacement tree or trees planted. This tree could have been mad safe without removing it. It could have been turned into a sculpture. Why do these people in control not have any imagination.
