The King of Limbs is one of the largest and oldest of Savernake Forest’s famous oaks; it is a Sessile Oak (Quercus petraea). Named by the Forestry Commission for its immense spread of massive limbs, many of which have now broken off, this tree also served as an inspiration for the rock band Radiohead’s 2011 album of the same name, which was recorded in one of the nearest buildings to this tree, Tottenham House.
