This tree was pollarded at some point in it's life. It is on a major drovers' route from the Midlands into London and the south east. It was probably the work of the Welsh cattle drovers using it as a waymark tree. The nearby Scots pines were doubtless planted by them as sign-posts. See www.llundainfach.co.uk
