The tree grows appropriately, in the garden of Walnut Tree Cottage. S.A. Lanigan, Chartered Arboriculturist, on 17th May 2023, measured the tree as being 3.35m circumference and confirmed that the tree is a 'veteran'. The full report has been made available. It is one of the fattest walnut ever recorded in Essex although not necessarily one of the oldest. It is suggested that it may have been planted c.1780 but this would mean the tree has grown very slowly for a walnut here.
